Yep, it's that 'should' word again; seems to pop up everywhere these days.

Did you see this piece in the Grauniad about 'life as a seriously overweight person?' They could have interviewed Marilyn Wann, Dawn French, Katy Brand, Beth Ditto. Hell, they could have interviewed me. But instead they seem to have gone to have gone along went along to their local Fat Fighters and found four of the most miserable, self-loathing excuses for fat people they could dredge up, then taken them as representative of (allegedly) 60-70% of the UK population.

It's propaganda, pure and simple. Never mind 'fat and happy', even if you're 'fat and not-particularly-bothered-one-way-or-the-other' there must be something fundamentally wrong with you - you're not concerned enough about your weight and must be shamed into teary compliance.

And we're getting the compulsory calorie counts on restaurant menus too. Many are saying it will be the final blow for the traditional British pub, an industry already decimated by smoking bans and attempts to 'denormalise' recreational drinking. Personally I'm more worried about the impact this will have on recovering anorexic and bulemic people and its effect in generating more by turning the entire population into calorie-counters. As for Mass in Motion, maybe having had WLS my fiancee will get a free pass from being harrassed by these people. However I'm taking this to mean that NAAFA's attempts to get an anti-discrimination bill through the MA.. state legislature are probably dead in the water.

I rather like the look of NH, personally. And their state motto rocks.
